RLSS National Pool Lifeguard Qualification (NPLQ)
The RLSS National Pool Lifeguard Qualification (NPLQ) is the most
widely recognised lifeguard qualification in the UK and it has the
backing of RLSS, ASA, ISRM and the HSE.

The course is divided into 2 sections:
Unit 1
Spiral management waterwork, first aid, resuscitation and customer
care.
Unit 2
Site specific information, health and safety, laws and knowledge
of all aspects of working in a swimming pool or leisure centre.
Both of these units are covered in the course.
Prerequisites
All candidates must be aged 16 years or over on the start date of the course and be able to meet the following fitness criteria:

Jump or dive into deep water |

Swim 50m in 60 seconds |

Swim 100m continuously on both front and back stroke |

Be able to swim whilst towing a casualty |
